‘Surreal, abstract surrealism’ is how artist Nigel Moores describes his style.

His paintings are extraordinarily unusual… and here at The Frame, we are lucky enough to have his paintings adorning our walls.

When did you start painting and what motivates you?

I have always painted. To understand, to communicate and to explore.

How would you describe your style?

Surreal abstract expressionism.

What do you consider to be the best painting you’ve ever done?

The one I have just finished.

Do you find certain paper, paints or brushes make a big difference to how you paint?

The medium dictates the message; so yes, always.

What has painting given back to you?

Sanity… in the unusual.

What inspires your work?

Everything that is honest or is in Nature.

What are you currently working on?

A series, ‘Dance to the Music of Time’.
